Amsterdam hosts Euro Champs Panna

From April 29 - May 1 squares in Amsterdam will be the stage for the European Championships Panna. This prestigious tournament is part of the Urban Sports Week.

Panna Knock Out is a highly popular form of street football. Players play one against one on a small pitch measuring 4 x 6 meters in short games lasting no more than 3 minutes. A match can be won by scoring most goals, but also by playing the ball between the legs of your opponent. A classic nutmeg of this kind is the highest possible achievement and makes a player the outright winner.

The European Championships Panna Knock Out is a 3-day event. On Friday April 29 and Saturday April 30 the qualifications will take place at Iepenplein and Balboaplein, with the finals being played on Sunday May 1 at the Surinameplein.

The European Championships will see the best European players in action. In Amsterdam it will be decided who will be crowned European champions in three catagories:

Among the contenders is reigning world champion Ilyas Nasri (aka Toubz). Another favorite is Mohamed Boutaka, the current European champion has announced he will defend his title in Amsterdam. In the women's event Sherallin Henriquez is one of the players to watch, especially after her win in the Open Dutch Championship Panna Knock Out last month.
