Get Out The Way is back with a special Urban Sports Week Amsterdam edition. In 2012 this fun race was organized for the first time, proving a huge success. On Friday April 29 the second edition of the event will take place. This time it promises to be even more spectacular.
The objective of the contest is simple: teams of two inline skaters need to get from one point to another as fast they can, completing assignments on their way and posting clips on Instagram. By adding hashtags #GOTWBitch and #USWA2016 a jury can watch on and award points.
Teams can earn points based on speed, style and creativity. The team which scores most points will be the winners. Last time’s victors, Eric Droogh and Tjeerd Weijers, will be back to defend their title.
Although some inline experience is required for completing the assignments, Get Out The Way is open for everybody. If you can skate around the city and if you’re not afraid to try a few jumps you’re good.
The start will be Friday night at the Museum Square ramp, right after the Dutch Open Championship Spine Ramp. At the start the checkpoints will be revealed where the assignments can be found.
For spectators the best spot to see some action is at the finish line in the Westerpark. Here a party awaits the teams and their fans. Friday night the Westergasfabriek will be the scene of the Urban Scene Party. Tickets (€5) for the party can be purchased at the door.
