The NK Boulder will take place Saturday April 30, with the best boulderers from the Netherlands contending for the national title. The competition is open for 12 women and 12 men, with 6 climbers advancing to the finals in both categories.
Bouldering is a spectacular form of climbing without ropes on walls with a maximum height of approximately 4.5m. The courses (boulders) are short and though. In order to ensure the safety of the climbers crash pads are used.
The Dutch national championships consist of two rounds. In the semifinal all competitors get four boulders with 5 minutes to complete the climb. In the final the 6 finalists get 4 boulders each with 4 minutes per climb.
In the men’s competition Remmelt Derksen, Timo Tak and Timo Reuser are among the main contenders. In the women’s event Mirthe van Liere is the clear favourite. She ended first in the national boulder competition, but Van Liere will certainly meet tough opposition from young talents like Lynn van der Meer and Tiba Vroom.
Especially for the NK Boulder a temporary indoor venue will be created in the Zuiveringshal at the Westergasfabriek. This spectacular setting will excite both climbers and spectators.
Entrance to the semifinals is free. For the finals a ticket is required. Tickets can be purchased from now in the NKBV Webshop. Tickets are 10 euro in pre-sale, and 15 euro on the day.
