Urban Sports Week Amsterdam will begin this afternoon with an opening program at the Westergasfabriek including a talkshow, dance performances and some drinks. Entrance to the opening is on invitation only, but we’ll cover the events in depth via Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.
We’ll be building up to the official opening of the first edition of the Urban Sports Week. At 18:30 Ish Dance Collective will get USWA started in spectacular fashion.
After the celebrations it’s time for some true urban action. We’ll be heading for Thorbeckeplein to enjoy some high flying inline skating action. Former X-Games gold medalist Sven Boekhorst is among the riders showing what he’s got in the High Air Competition.
For those who prefer some physical exercise themselves, the Tourist City Evening Run is where you should be. It’s the first of four running events during the Urban Sports Week, taking urban runners on along some of Amsterdam’s highlights at a nice pace.
With not less than 15 events coming up on Friday, preparations are on their way throughout the city today. We’ll keep you up-to-date with the build-up of some of the venues via our social channels.
We certainly hope the weather is going to improve over the coming days, but it’s going to be a superb five days anyway! You’ll be warm and dry for sure at the Urban Scene Party on Friday night at WesterUnie. There will be drinks, girls with polaroid cameras and a great line-up:
19:00 - 21:30 Flatland BMX Finals
21:30 - 22:00 Fractal Breakdancing
22:00 - 23:00 Jazzy Jasper
23:00 - 00:30 Urvinho & Faya
00:30 - 01:00 Yung Internet
01:00 - END Rachel Green vs. Captain Redbeard (Back2Back)
Tell your friend you’ll be at the WesterUnie via our Facebook event page. Tickets for the party are €5 and can be purchased at the door only. For each ticket €1 will be donated to Fight Cancer!
