No better way to start your weekend than with a sweet training session! Runners are welcome to join the Tourist Run starting at Museumplein at 10 AM. If you’re more into workouts, you are invited to CrossFit Amsterdam for the Work Out of the Day (WOD).
These are just two of many event during USWA in which everybody can take part in.
This afternoon slacklines will be set up at the Museum Square. Here you’ll learn how to balance on a slackline and learn some basic slackline-tricks. Besides workshops there will be spectacular jump shows.
At Museum Square you can also join the fun with 3x3 Super Star, a 3x3 basketball event open for all. This morning the court will be open for kids, parents and tourists to enjoy clinics and contests. In the afternoon there will be tricks, shows and a lot of dunks!
If you prefer to soak up the action from a distance head for the Westergasfabriek. Here you’ll enjoy two of the craziest events of the Urban Sports Week: streetdiving and wakeboarding!
During the Urban Wake Session 10 wakeboarders will be showing their tricks on the canals in Amsterdam. The competitors will be pulled by a highly sophisticated winch, which drags them with an average speed of 32 km/h and allows jumps up to 15m.
Not to be missed at the Westergasfabriek is the NK Boulder. The best boulderers of the Netherlands will compete for the Dutch national title in a temporary boulder arena in the Zuiveringshal.
Watch out for Remmelt Dirksen in the men’s competition, winner of the national competition. But what to think of Tim Reuser, who recently claimed a 25th place in the World Cup Series among the world’s best climbers. In the women’s event Mirthe van Liere is the pre-event favorite after winning the national competition earlier this year.
The semifinals will start at noon, with the finals beginning at 8.30 pm. Tickets for the finals are €15,- and can be purchased at the venue. People unable to come to Amsterdam, can follow the finals via live stream.
Another great place to end Day 3 of Urban Sports Week Amsterdam is Roest. This great spot in Amsterdam East is host to the BMX Championships Dirt. The finals start at 7.30pm. Prepare for some high flying action and a lot of backflips with BMX riders coming down an 8 meter high ramp.
