Skateboarding

Skateboarding started in the streets of California during the 1950’s as a passtime when there were no waves to surf upon. Half a century later this surfing on the streets has grown into a world wide phenomenon that is set to become an Olympic sport in 2020.

Amsterdam and skateboarding have a long history together. Not only did Amsterdam feature the country's very first halfpipe on the Waterlooplein, the Dutch capital also hosts the oldest skateboard store of Europe.
